Our mission is to inspire children with a love of learning through meaningful experiences, strengthening their cognitive, emotional and social abilities, according to their own individuality and developmental stages of childhood. We believe in educating the whole child to think, feel, and will with depth, confidence, and purpose.

Our vision is to create impact on our students’ foundation to be critical thinkers, compassionate citizens, contributors to a sustainable society and self directed individuals who embrace who they are meant to be and are ready to meet challenges and opportunities.

Our definition of learning is guided by:

Holistic, integral approach

We believe that our integral approach which incorporates art, crafts, permaculture, movement and academic studies within a nature-based holistic school will guarantee optimal learning environments and will help our students to develop healthy foundations, skills, resilience and knowledge.

Experiential learning

balance

We rely on a teaching process that facilitates the learning of knowledge and skills at each developmental stage, in an experiential way first, gradually allowing the specific content to be integrated into the curriculum at a more cognitive level.

Outdoor learning

As a rural school in nature, our approach includes a range of experiences and activities and the opportunity to use the natural environment as the basis for teaching key competencies such as maths and the sciences when appropriate.

Waldorf-Steiner pedagogy

The inspiration of our curriculum is guided by our understanding of human development, according to the insights of Rudolf Steiner. The pace, priorities, and practices of our programme, from Early Childhood through Primary School, grow out of this foundation.

Independence in education

Arbol Madre Holistic School School views self-determination in its educational and governance practices as essential to the vitality of its vision and mission thus is an independent school free of government curricular standards or intervention.
